Mangala Samaraweera

On 25/05/2006 RTE television broadcast 'Chain Reactions', a documentary which RTE claimed to be factual.

This documentary was nothing more than a distortion of the truth about Landslide and the man pictured above.

The documentary can be viewed here ( Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 )

Mangala Pinsiri Samawareera (born April 21, 1956) is a Sri Lankan politician.

In 1997 Mr Samaraweera was Sri Lanka's Minister for Telecommunications & The Media.. He travelled abroad a lot and he ran up a lot of expenses on his official credit card.

However, his heavy spending was noticed and there were a lot of purchases he couldn't explain away as 'official'.

He was buying a lot of things for himself and also gifts for his staff as it is traditional in Sri Lanka, when you go away to bring presents for your friends and colleagues. So he claimed that some of the money was spent on his staff which made it official. Many of his credit card purchases were for expensive items from exclusive stores.

But then somebody leaked details of Mangala's lavish credit card spending to a national newspaper. The paper published a copy of the credit card along with the statement, the details and numbers available for all to see. It was then claimed people started using the credit card number.

Mangala Samaraweera apparently got a huge credit card statement as a result of pages and pages of material which he never ordered. Included in those purchases was a purchase from Landslide Productions in Texas.

The criminal investigation department of the police started investigating how it happened and sought the help of Interpol and the FBI.

Investigations of controversial adult transactions via AVS systems at Landslide Productions (Texas) and Dakotah Marketing & Research (North Dakotah) and adult dating agency Cherry Blossoms (Haywaii) were initiated by the police in Sri Lanka contacting Hong Kong liaison in July 1998.

Landslide records for the Sri Lankan official.

The customer's logged IP address of 206.152.141.2 was traced by the FBI to a Sri Lankan ISP.

Who is Jason Little of Congo, New Orleans? Does he exist? We think not.

In the documentary segment about Samaraweera the newspaper article is shown bearing the minister's credit card. The date on the newspaper, the 21st of June 1998. Simon Delaney, the presenter attributes the transaction at Landslide on the minister's credit card to the fact it was published in the newspaper and the opposition party were responsible and had admitted it. Simon Delaney failed to account for the fact that the Landslide credit card transaction on the 10th of May 1998 came long before it was published in the newspaper leaving the story with a gaping flaw and completely at odds with itself.

Chain Reactions - has imploded under the weight of it's own lies.
